If you are a fan of The Simpson’s, don’t miss out on purchasing this 1 oz Homer Simpson Silver coin on Coininvest today.
Since its debut on the 17th of December 1989, 728 episodes of the show “The Simpson’s” have been broadcas (!!). It’s the longest running American animated series, longest running American sitcom and scripted primetime television series, both in terms of seasons and number of episodes. It is a worldwide pop-culture phenomenon enjoyed across 200 countries in 27 languages.
Homer, the father of the Simpson’s family, works as a safety inspector at the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant, a position at odds with his careless, buffoonish personality. The iconic character was designed and created by artist Matt Groening and he is voiced by Dan Castellaneta. One of his famous exclamatory catchphrases of "D'oh!" has even been adopted into the English language!
The design of the coin features a smiling Homer Simpson. Below his image can be found an “incused” inscription of his name, meaning the letters have been pressed below the surface of the coin by the die. The design also includes a representation of Matt Groening’s signature and The Perth Mint “P” mintmark.
Struck by the Perth Mint, each coin contains 1 troy ounce of .9999 fine silver. This fun coin has a face value of 1 dollar, backed by the Tuvalu government.
The value can be found on the obverse of the coin which represents the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. Her beautiful portrait designed by Ian Rank-Broadley is surrounded by the purity of the coin, (1 oz of 99.99% pure silver) , the year 2022 , “Tuvalu” as the value of 1 dollar is backed by the Tuvalu government.
Often hailed as one of the most widely recognisable designs of modern coinage, the fourth portrait of Queen Elizabeth II was introduced in 1998 after a fiercely competitive selection process took place the year before. Ian Rank Broadley decided to take a more realistic approach saying “there is no need to flatter her as she is a 70 year old woman with poise and bearing”. It is important to note that the Queen is not wearing the crown but Elizabeth II is in fact adorning the “Girls of Great Britain Tiara” gifted to her majesty as a wedding present.
